(Canmore, Alberta)
– Following record rainfall in Canmore and Kananaskis Country, Canadian
Rockies Golf would like to inform of the current status of our eight
courses:
- Canmore Golf & Curling Club: Front nine is open and back nine has a tentative opening for Tuesday, June 25 as standing water continues to recede at the present rate. There is no damage to the course, equipment or buildings.
- Kananaskis Country Golf Course: Both Mt. Kidd and Mt. Lorette are closed for the 2013 season due to significant flooding. Golfers and groups with confirmed tee times will receive full refunds.
- The Fairmont Banff Springs: As of Tuesday, June 25th, all 27 holes are open. The driving range will open on Wednesday, June 26.
- The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge: Open for play and not impacted by the flooding in Canmore or Kananaskis Country.
- Silvertip Resort: Reopening date of the golf course is currently pending final assessment with anticipation to be open within the next two weeks.
- Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club: The front nine is recovering from the floods and is projected to open at the end of the week. The back nine suffered significant flooding and will take time for the water to recede. Anticipated opening is in two weeks.
“The
safety of our staff, their families and our guests remains a priority
and we are pleased to report that our Canadian Rockies Golf team is safe
and the water on a few of our courses is receding,” says Chris
Schatzmann, Head Golf Professional at Stewart Creek Golf & Country
Club. “It is a strong community and we are thankful for all the people
who have dedicated time to help in the clean-up and recovery effort.”
Canadian Rockies Golf continues to monitor the status of the courses and provide information as it becomes available.
